چکیده
In a parasitological study carried out in November 1994 the parasitic nematode Capillaria garfiai (Trichuridae: Capillariinae) was found lying in the lingual epithelium of a wild boar in Catalonia, northeast of Spain. The histological examination carried out showed no microscopical pathological changes in the parasitized tissue.

The parasitology of the black stilt (Himantopus novaezelandiae)
The parasite faunas of the black stilt (Himantopus novaezelandiae) and the pied stilt (H. h. leucocephalus ) in New Zealand were investigated. The alimentary tracts of eleven black stilts, and three entire pied stilts were examined for the presence of parasites, particularly helminths, and a number of carcasses were surveyed for the presence of ectoparasites. Faecal samples were taken from capt...
متن کاملFirst report of Eucoleus boehmi (syn. Capillaria boehmi) in dogs in north-western Italy, with scanning electron microscopy of the eggs
Dogs can be infected by several nematodes of the Trichuridae family. Trichuridae eggs are all similar, barrel shaped with polar plugs, and misdiagnosis among different species can occur. The most common species is Trichuris vulpis, while the respiratory parasites Eucoleus boehmi (syn. Capillaria boehmi) and Eucoleus aerophilus (syn. Capillaria aerophila) are rarely observed in pets. E. boehmi i...
متن کاملWild boar and red deer display high prevalences of tuberculosis-like lesions in Spain.
We describe the distribution of tuberculosis-like lesions (TBL) in wild boar (Sus scrofa) and red deer (Cervus elaphus) in Spain. Animals with TBL were confirmed in 84.21% of mixed populations (n=57) of red deer and wild boar and in 75% of populations of wild boar alone (n=8) in central and southern Spain (core area). The prevalence of TBL declined towards the periphery of this region. In the c...
متن کاملWild boar tuberculosis in Iberian Atlantic Spain: a different picture from Mediterranean habitats
BACKGROUND Infections with Mycobacterium bovis and closely related members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTC) are shared between livestock, wildlife and sporadically human beings. Wildlife reservoirs exist worldwide and can interfere with bovine tuberculosis (TB) eradication efforts. The Eurasian wild boar (Sus scrofa) is a MTC maintenance host in Mediterranean Iberia (Spain and Po...
متن کاملFredensborg et al.—Gut helminths from red-billed gulls
Eight species of gastrointestinal helminths were obtained from the red-billed gull (Larus novaehollandiae scopulinus Forster, 1844) from Otago Peninsula, of which six were new host records. One of these, Maritrema novaezelandensis (Trematoda), was a species new to science which is being described elsewhere; the other five were Curtuteria australis (Trematoda), Echinoparyphium recurvatum (Tremat...
